Words fill my mind in
beguiling combinations,
begging me to write.

On being a church musician ....
I embarked on my journey as a church musician armed with plenty of musical knowledge and skills, but it wasn’t until I had been in the role for some years that I understood what being a church musician is really about.  It’s about being a vessel, a vessel that is filled by watching and listening and sensing and letting God in, and is poured out in service and sacrifice and celebration.  It’s about letting experiences and people shape you, broaden your perspective and invade your heart.  It’s about learning how to stay in step with other leaders in the dance of worship.    It’s about unself-consciously offering your efforts to God, and helping others do that, too.  It’s about being a shepherd and a servant leader.  It’s about knowing that you would keep making music even if no one but God was there to hear it.    (this quote from Marcia appears in the book Rivals or a Team? by Eileen Gunther)
